STUDENT STORIES

For not wanting to take this course at the beginning I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it in the end and talking to my mom we realized that it was the best choice because it helped me find what worked best for me and how I learn vs other people. It also pushed me to be a better student and more organized so for that I thank you.

I felt like I did way better on the SAQs (I listened to your advice), the multiple choice was oddly easier than any multiple choice you gave in class. I ATE the DBQ. And I did okay on the LEQ. Hopefully I got a 4. Fingers crossed.

I found the class challenging, but I have used what I learned in AP Statistics in my classes at George Washington University. You helped lay the foundation for my future success.

Working together in class led by the energy you bring to what might otherwise be boring material has made me love this class. This is the most fascinating math class I have taken and I feel we are very well prepared for this exam.

The Benefits of AP®

Advanced Placement ® (AP) classes offer numerous benefits to students, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and advantages necessary for success in their academic and professional pursuits.

  • According to recent statistics, students who take AP courses consistently outperform their peers in college readiness and subsequent college success. In fact, a study conducted by the College Board revealed that AP students have higher college graduation rates and are more likely to graduate in four years compared to non-AP students. Additionally, the same study found that AP students tend to earn higher GPAs in college and are better prepared for the rigors of higher education.
  • Statistics show that students who take AP exams have a greater likelihood of receiving college credits, thus potentially reducing the cost of tuition and allowing them to delve into more advanced coursework early on. This early exposure to college-level material also fosters critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective time management, which are highly valued by employers in the professional world.

By challenging themselves in AP classes, students can develop a strong work ethic, discipline, and the ability to handle a rigorous academic workload, all of which are invaluable in college and beyond. With these compelling statistics, it becomes evident that participating in advanced placement classes offers students a significant advantage in their educational journey, preparing them for future success and opening doors to opportunities they may not have otherwise had access to.

The PA Keystone Exams

High school students in Pennsylvania are required to take Keystone Exams and a proficient score is a requirement under Act 158. Supporting students in these exams will help students develop the tools necessary to earn proficiency and complete this graduation requirement.
